Developing the Industrial Bioeconomy Today

Biofine Developments Northeast Inc. (BDNE) owns the exclusive rights to a robust patent portfolio enabling the production of 100% renewable chemicals and carbon-negative biofuels directly from waste cellulose.

Dr. Stephen W. Fitzpatrick was recognized for this invention with the Presidential Green Chemistry Award in 1999. Since then, Biofine has continuously developed the technology, expanded the patent portfolio, and established routine pilot plant operations via the B2P2 pilot plant located at the University of Maine Forest Bioproducts Research Institute – Technology Research Center.

In 2019, BDNE was launched in response to surging demand for biobased chemicals and fuels.

In July 2023, Biofine announced a long-term Offtake agreement with Sprague Operating Resources for the full output its first commercial biorefinery to be located in the Lincoln Technology Park in Lincoln, ME. The Biofine team has decades of experience in chemical engineering, product development, production and business development. Funded and supported by private investors, the Biofine technology is poised to play a significant role in the emerging global bioeconomy.
